JOE BONAMASSA

-

It’s hard to keep up with the blues superstar’s everexpanding guitar collection – just one glimpse at his Instagram page will easily cost you several hours – though it’s no secret he’s a big fan of Telecasters. Among his favourites, there’s a 1950 Broadcaster (“one of the lightest I have ever played”), a 1952 Telecaster that belonged to Terry Reid (“he installed a patent number Gibson pickup in the front”), a 1960 dubbed The Steve Cropper-caster (“I wanted one because of him”) and a 1951 Nocaster fitted with a PAF (“it’s my go-to Tele, so to speak”). For his latest album, Royal Tea, Bonamassa acquired a Parsons/ White B-bender Thinline that he’d been chasing for three decades – since the age of 13 – using it to record early single When One Door Opens, proving he’s the kind of collector that never gives up.
