Everything you need to know before playing ‘(Don’t Fear) The Reaper’
All the guitar parts feature a bridge position humbucker pickup with varying degrees of overdrive. For the main riff, aim for a very mild overdrive tone, almost clean, in fact. You can use a compressor pedal to help the notes ring out (although this is optional). For the lead work, turn up the gain, perhaps adding some distortion from a pedal if your amp doesn’t have enough drive. Aim for a tone with plenty of midrange and not too much bass. The feedback at the end of the solo is helped along with a delay effect set to repeat on the beat with a high feedback (the number of repeats). All the guitar parts have plenty of reverb.
