Townsville Bulletin - Townsville Eye - - Flicks -

A reckless revenge thriller, the type of which keeps making Liam Neeson them big bucks. However, it looks mighty doubtful this mediocre offering will be sending much coin the way of its star, Jennifer Garner. The idea of having Garner reclaim her action-flick roots - which go all the way back to Daredevil and the TV series Alias - is not without merit. In fact, Garner throws herself into some combat scenes with a authentic physicality that would have most of her male counterparts calling for a stunt double. However, Garner’s willing work ethic is wasted on a movie that is only interested in raising pulses and lowering expectations. She plays Riley, an Los Angeles wife and mother who becomes a vigilante killing machine when her family is wiped out by a no-good crime baron. (Has there ever been a good crime baron?) The body count steadily rises while a lead-weighted script trudges from one wounding exchange of unpleasantries to the next. Directed by Pierre Morel (Taken).
