State in need of more leadership and less rhetoric
“A GENUINE leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
The Queensland LNP Government need to dismount their high horse and provide good government for their constituents.
Asset privatisation is something that not all Queenslanders agree with, and this is something the Government need to accept.
Offering open time frames or inducements that are unlikely to occur/ commence within the next term of the Queensland State Government is something people don’t need.
Should asset sales be your election mandate, then do it and seek our feedback on that, not what may or may not come.
When Treasurer Tim Nicholls was asked if the Townsville Superstadium could be one of the projects to receive an injection of funds, Nicholls said: “It’s certainly something that would be, I think, very strongly in the mix.”
“I understand the desire of communities to have those sorts of facilities, but I come back to the reason I am here ( in Townsville) and if we want to see those sorts of facilities, then as a community we need to make choices.”
David Crisafulli MP warned of tough State and Federal Budgets for the foreseeable future and warned that asset sales and privatisation, including the Townsville Port, would provide a rare chance to fund major projects in the city.
Crisafulli said: “I think if we miss the opportunity now that comes in the next half a decade, we miss it forever.”
“You are going to see a portion of where that funding is going to be spent before the election.”
Enough with rhetoric, there are infrastructure items in Townsville that should be addressed before looking to whether a spend, such as the “Superstadium”, is a spend worthwhile at this point in time.
“People buy into the leader before they buy into the vision.” – John C. Maxwell STEVEN ISLES, Bushland Beach.
