One thing is for certain, I’ll be trying my hardest to be the best person I can be and display the kind of behaviour I’d like to see my children display.

I don’t want my children to pick up on my bad habits. And that’s why my children are my greatest teachers. They have put a mirror up to my negative traits and highlighted to me what I need to change about myself.

Because of my children, I now pay more attention to all my bad habits, attitudes and conduct. If I am not proud of them, or I don’t wish for others to define me by those behaviours, I shouldn’t be letting my children observe them either.

I know that the way my children will develop and subsequently react to the challenges of life will largely depend on me, and my personal reactions to challenges.

And the next time I catch one of my children with their finger up their dainty little noses, I know I can rest assured they are simply mimicking their father.

IS 13 months too early to start potty training? I thought it was, but my baby girl is showing interest. Should I run with it? Nadia, 4817

Early potty training is most certainly done in other cultures. Even babies under 12 months are ‘‘ trained’’ to sit and try and it is often very successful. Under the age of 12 months, it usually requires a parent to notice the subtle signs that the baby is doing a wee or a poo and to take them and place them on the potty at the right time, though some parents certainly have success with placing them on the potty at timed intervals each day.

Over the age of 12 months, if your baby is able to walk and run to the potty, if she is interested, there is no reason why you cannot go with her interest. Some research shows that if babies are toilet trained too young it is really a reflex training rather than brain training and they go backwards after a certain amount of time. Other research, however, shows the opposite.

If your 13- month- old is keen and interested and it’s more than a passing interest, there is no reason why you can’t do all the ‘‘ pre- toilet training’’ steps, which is watching what is going Vaccine and autism: ‘ no link’ YET another scientific study has found no link between autism and the vaccine against measles, mumps and rubella ( MMR), according to US research published on Tuesday.

The findings in the Journal of the American Medical Association are based on a study of about 95,000 children with older siblings, some of whom had autism spectrum disorder ( ASD).

“Consistent with studies in other populations, we observed no association between MMR vaccination and increased ASD risk among privately insured children,” said the study, led by Anjali Jain.

“We also found no evidence that receipt of either one or two doses of MMR vaccination was associated with an increased risk of ASD among children who had siblings with ASD.”

Fears about vaccines and autism began to spread after the publication in 1998 of an article by Andrew Wakefield that purported to find a link between the MMR vaccine and autism in 12 children.

It was later found to be fraudulent and was retracted by the journal that published it. Emma wiggling but not too far HAS Emma wiggled her way out of the Wiggles? The popular Yellow Wiggle is about to embark on her own solo TV show, Emma! and is releasing a solo album to accompany it.

Which begs the question: is Emma doing a Zayn Malik?

The first female Wiggle has created her own army of followers since she joined the newlook line- up in 2012.

Thousands of children now turn up dressed like the first female Wiggle, complete with signature bows in their hair — pre- orders of the album will even come with a free bow.

Blue Wiggle, Anthony Field, produced the album of 29 songs which he says has a more “gentle” feel than the group’s usual sound — so they’re clearly still on good terms.

Emma and Purple Wiggle Lachy revealed recently that they are an item.

Her TV show is set to air later this year on ABCKids and the album, featuring Wiggles classics and brand new songs, is out soon. Emma continues with her usual Wiggles responsibilities on the road with the group on their current Rock & Roll Preschool tour. on, talking about the potty/ toilet wees and poos, reading books on it.

If you notice a regular time of day where she is weeing or pooing, ask her to sit and try, that is 20 minutes after a meal, or running around, or after a bath, and gauge from there how keen and interested she really is and if she can actually tell you that she needs to go. She also needs to be able to pull her pants/ pull- ups off to get to the potty on time.

On my website there is a checklist for a child of signs that they are ready, there is also a checklist if a parent is ready. See how many you check off for her. It needs to be most, but not all.
