Embattled Carmody back at work

CHIEF Justice Tim Carmody received a visit from one of his critics yesterday as he returned to work after sick leave.

Justice Carmody arrived to work at the Queensland Civil and Administra­tive Tribunal offices in Brisbane, where he spent the day on administra­tive work and reading case files.

About 9.15am, Supreme Court Justice David Boddice visited Justice Carmody, staying only a few minutes. It has been reported Justice Boddice was present at a February meeting with Justice Carmody when Justice John Byrne secretly recorded the Chief Justice with a smartphone.

The Chief Justice allegedly referred to fellow judges collective­ly as “scum”.

Justice Carmody is temporaril­y replacing QCAT president Justice David Thomas, who is on leave until July 20.

“The Chief Justice is performing administra­tive duties only today, including reading files for the remainder of thehe week’s hearings,” a spokesmana­n for the Office of the Chief Jusstice said.
