AFTER headlining at this year’s Groovin’ the Moo, indie- pop band San Cisco are back in town and playing at The Venue tomorrow night.

The band have come a long way since their debut album less than three years ago.

The four- member group, Josh Biondillo, Jordi Davieson, Nick Gardner and Scarlett Stevens, have hit the road for an exclusive regional tour to promote the release of their latest album Gracetown.

Topping the ARIA charts in its first week, guitarist Josh said their latest album title was inspired by a small coastal town in Western Australia, with a selection of indie- pop, disco and hip- hop tunes.

“Jordi is a great storyteller and is very talented when it comes to putting his stories into song,” Josh said.

“Anything from a song about losing a bet with a mate to Domino’s Pizza getting your order wrong.”

With the band already on the road headlining at Caloundra Music Festival last weekend, Josh said the group are enjoying giving the audience a mix of old and new songs.

“We will be playing all of the San Cisco classics as well as an a capella cover of Tom Jones’ Sex Bomb with the possibility of an appearance from the man himself.”

San Cisco performed at this year’s Splendour in the Grass, being named one of Triple J’s crowd favourites of the day. “Splendour was pretty magical,” he said. “The people of Byron Bay sure know how to party.”

With only one female in the group, Josh said things can get pretty rowdy on the road at times but having Scarlett on board has kept the boys in line. “It can get pretty blokey on the road,” he said. “I guess having a girl around definitely keeps us boys in line, but usually by the end of a tour Scar is worse than us.

“Sometimes we strip down to our jocks and have a towel fight.”

Having performed in Townsville regularly Josh said the group were excited to get back to the energetic and lively crowd the city has to offer.

“Last time we played in Townsville Nick left his phone at the Shamrock Pub and the old bloke put it in a mailbag and posted it to him. “Lovely people in Townsville.” San Cisco will be playing at The Venue from 8pm tomorrow.
