CORINNE Henderson was about to start building her dream home and was enjoying a new relationship when her life was cruelly cut short.

Friends will pay tribute to the 32- year- old mine worker, who was stabbed to death in her own home, in a sunrise memorial tomorrow.

It’s a brutal tragedy and for it to happen to someone like her … was senseless

Ms Henderson was allegedly killed by her former partner Dane Andrew Pilcher, 36, on September 26, after spending a day at the Townsville Cup with her new boyfriend.

Sally Jupp was one of Ms Henderson’s closest friends and said she had been at a good point in her life.

“She was about to start building her home, she’d just met an amazing new man and she was about to get a promotion at work,” she said. “Everything was just right there before her.

“It’s a brutal tragedy and for it to happen to someone like her, who was so amazing, was just senseless.”

Ms Henderson moved to Townsville from Tasmania three years ago and had built a life in the city, working as a fly- in fly- out truck driver.

“She’d done a lot of planning to get to where she was,” Ms Jupp said. “She loved life, she was very dedicated to her job.”

Ms Jupp said Ms Henderson’s parents had been visiting Townsville at the time of her death and had been about to go home knowing she was safe and happy.

“She was dad’s girl but she and her mum were best friends,” she said.

Ms Henderson’s death came as builders prepared to start work on her dream home in Idalia, which she had been planning for a year.

Among the details she’d imagined for her future home was a set of glass jars filled with shells and a candle to place at the entrance.

Now Ms Jupp is asking those who join in tomorrow’s memorial service to bring a shell to put in a jar to give to Ms Henderson’s parents.

The memorial will be held at the top of Castle Hill, one of Ms Henderson’s favourite spots in Townsville, where she used to go running.

Ms Jupp said Ms Hender- son made friends easily, befriending people who worked at her favourite cafe and other people she met in life.

“Everywhere she went, she just connected with people,” she said. “There’s a part to her that was very private but she loved to meet new people.”

Ms Jupp said the 6am service was a way to let people who couldn’t attend her funeral in Tasmania to say goodbye. “It’s not about how she died, it’s about who she was,” Ms Jupp said.
