CRIME SPREE TEEN FREE Youth, 17, walks from court despite admitting to long string of offences

HE broke into an Ayr home, drove a stolen car, burgled an Aitkenvale shop, shoplifted from a supermarke­t, stole petrol and trashed a television.

But Isaiah Joel Stanley, 17, has walked free from court after being released on probation.

Stanley pleaded guilty in A MAN has been ordered to pay $ 316 to McDonald’s after he kneed and broke a glass door at the Stanley St fast- food restaurant.

Ivan John Holt, 40, was angry that he had been refused service after walking through the drive- through about 4.20am on April 5.

Holt pleaded guilty in Townsville Magistrate­s Court to wilful damage and failing to appear in court on April 19.

Prosecutor Subarna Raut Townsville Magistrate­s Court yesterday to the month- long string of offences – as well as failing to appear in court twice and breaching bail 10 times – after a five- day stint in custody.

Prosecutor Subarna Raut said that on April 4, security camera footage showed four males, including Stanley, break into The RC Shop in Aitkenvale by smashing a glass door with a piece of concrete.

They stole a large amount of property from the radio con- said police arrived after staff reported the disturbanc­e. They found Holt in the carpark.

“The defendant had attended the store, walked through the vehicle drivethrou­gh section of the restaurant,” he said.

“When he was refused service he became upset.”

Holt was asked to leave and paced outside before approachin­g the front glass door and hitting it with his leg.

On April 16, Stanley stole four cans of deodorant from a Woolworths supermarke­t.

In the early hours of April 20, a home was broken into and offenders stole keys to a red Holden Commodore.

Stanley was not involved in the burglary, but was seen in Armitage said Holt was homeless and had a chronic problem with alcohol.

“He kicked out at the door, he says, with his knee, because he was frustrated and trying to get staff’s attention,” she said. “He didn’t intend to break the glass doors and create damage and he is regretful about that.”

Holt was fined $ 300 for the damage and $ 200 for failing to appear in court.

He was also ordered to pay restitutio­n to McDonald’s. the car driving to a service station about 8pm that night. The occupants of the car drove off with $ 71.12 worth of petrol.

Stanley was charged with stealing and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

On April 22, a 69- year- old man was woken about 2am when he heard Stanley and others break into his Ayr home.

About 5am on March 25, police were attempting to speak to Stanley and another person when they fled.

Police called out but he kept running and hid in a yard, then jumped over a fence into another yard. He was charged with two counts of trespass.

That afternoon he returned to his share house accommodat­ion to discover the television in his room had been removed.

“He was told that all television­s in the residence rooms had been confiscate­d until a missing television was returned,” Mr Raut said.

Stanley then used a skate- THE car of missing Sunshine Coast man Rodney Fielding has been found in the camping grounds of Bowling Green Bay National Park.

The discovery comes a day after his family made an impassione­d plea for help to find the 52- year- old who went missing in Townsville nearly two weeks ago.

Initial investigat­ions indicate the vehicle, a grey 2001 Ford Falcon sedan, may have been there since Saturday April 15.

Police are appealing for informatio­n from any person who board to smash the television in the loungeroom, which was the property of Mission Australia.

Defence solicitor Nathan Smith said Stanley had no criminal history.

Magistrate Peter Smid sentenced Stanley to 12 months of probation and 100 hours of community service. He was ordered to pay $ 3699 in restitutio­n to The RC Shop, $ 830 to Mission Australia and $ 71.12 to the service station.

Mr Fielding is described as caucasian in appearance, of a slim build, approximat­ely 180cm tall with short hair. He was last seen wearing blue denim jeans and a flannelett­e shirt. Police and family have concerns for his welfare because he has not been in contact.
