ORGANISERS of 10 Days in the Towers event have a huge weekend in store for the annual Charters Towers Country Music Festival, which begins tonight.

Kicking off the night is Kedron “Buck” Taylor who won the festival back in 1982.

He starred on the big screen in the Slim Dusty movie in 1984, and then toured with the great Aussie artist.

In the past he has been nominated for Golden Guitar and ARIA awards, but these days he loves singing about all things Australian, recently releasing his classical Australian Car Wars Trilogy.

Local vocalist Debbie Jensen will bring her big voice to the stage, showcasing her dynamic range through covers of country music’s Carrie Underwood right through to Patsy Cline.

Her voice packs a mighty punch and you can expect the crowd will be up on their feet screaming for more.

Also performing is Luke Austen, winner of the Toyota Star Maker competition in 2010 and two Golden Guitar Awards. Having previously toured as a backing singer for Troy Cassar- Daley, Austen has released two successful albums, Light of Day and Truth Is Simple.

North Queensland- born talent Jade Holland has played for Australian troops in Afghanistan and performed in China, and tonight she promises to shine on the Charters Towers stage, while troubadour 8 Ball Aitken will bring his funky, footstomping energy and infectious blend of swampy blues- rock to the showgrounds to round out the night, having brought his party vibe to music festivals around the world.
