Looking to finish season on high

-

OUR win over the Giants last weekend wasn’t enough for the Firebirds to make the Super Netball finals, but it was still a really good boost for the team.

All the girls played well and we were really excited to beat the first- placed team and give ourselves the opportunity to finish in the top four.

Other results didn’t go our way and it was hard to watch the Collingwood win against West Coast Fever knowing that it ended our season.

However, beating the ladder- leading Giants really showed what we can do.

We have one more game left against the NSW Swifts on Saturday night and we want to end the year on a high and continue carrying that momentum going into next season.

We’ve still been training really hard and working to fix those things that we need to, but it will definitely be a tough game against the Swifts.

The Firebirds and Swifts have played the last two grand finals so there’s always that rivalry there, and we know they’ll also be looking for a win to end their season.

It’s the first State of Origin game next week as well, so hopefully we can start things off with a win for Queensland.

I didn’t really know what to expect in my first season with the Firebirds, but I’ve learned so much about the game and myself personally.

I think just the environment that they’ve created at the Firebirds has been really nurturing and allowed us to get the best out of ourselves.

I’m really appreciative for all the girls and the way they’ve taught me and helped me to grow.

We’re definitely disappointed that we didn’t make finals, but we’re finishing well and that’s a really good sign for next season.
