Dream comes true for luxury diners in North

- CHRISTIE ANDERSON christie. anderson@ news. com. au

A NEW business that offers a highend and exclusive dining experience in the privacy of people’s homes has launched in Townsville.

Dream Dinners by Dreamscene offers luxurious styling combined with meals by award- winning Michel’s Restaurant for up to 12 guests.

The business, believed to the first of its kind in Townsville, is the brainchild of Sarah Adams, owner of Dreamscene Events.

Despite only minimal marketing, the concept has already found a receptive market.

Ms Adams said she had often been inhibited when styling large- scale events, such as weddings, because the cost was often beyond the budget for many people.

Instead she launched Dream Dinners which allowed her imagination to run wild as she was providing styling on much smaller scale.

“With weddings I wanted to recreate Pinterest pictures but I couldn’t do that because people might only have $ 1000 to spend and half the stuff on Pinterest is actually really expensive and it’s not possible to buy enough for a 100- person event,” she said.

“This is high- end luxury styled decorating but on a smaller scale. I’m well known in the wedding industry and I wanted to branch out and make myself more accessible.

“This is a way for people to do something a bit different and do fancy styling to impress their friends.”

The dinners are proving popular for a range of events from baby showers, to special celebrations, dinner parties with friends or entertaining VIP clients.

Guests are served a three- course meal but other options including seven- course degustations are also available.

Everything from the furniture to dinnerware, decorations and food is provided while Ms Adams and her team also take care of the set up and cleaning up.

Ms Adams said she had carefully curated different styling collections which could also be mixed up.

“I’ve deliberately purchased about eight collections and they can all be overlapped, which creates so many different combinations,” she said.

“My whole tag line is about turning a special occasion into a more intimate and meaningful gathering.

“It doesn’t matter what your house looks like, we can completely envelope the table with a curtain or we can do it out on someone’s deck or even in a backyard or public space.”
