1RAR band in community concert

- RACHEL RILEY

ALL you need is love for the B Beatlestl to come together and twist and shout at the 1RAR band’s latest community concert tonight.

The 1st Battalion, Royal Australia Regiment ( 1RAR) military band is holding a Beatles concert from 7.30pm at Riverway.

The band held a spectacular full dress rehearsal yesterday, practising traditional covers as well as some unique arrangements and solos.

1RAR Band music director Major GlennGl R Rogers said the group of about 20 performers had been preparing for a fortnight for the show, with an array of lights and sounds to compliment the music.

“The Beatles have such an amazing repertoire,” he said.

“Lennon and McCartney were one of the best song writing duos in history and then was so much musical variation in their style so we are trying to capture all of that.”

Maj Rogers said while it was State of Origin night, he expected the concert would still be well supported as Legacy was a beneficiary.

“We are trying to get a lot more people from around the Riverway district to come out and support this great venue,” he said.

The concert starts at 7.30pm at Riverway Theatre. For more information call 4411 7374. Bookings can be made at trybooking. com/ 281204. Entry by donation.
