Smart move as CQU and ADF join forces
CQUNIVERSITY is partnering with the Australian Defence Force to sign a deal for personnel access to tertiary accreditation in the area of logistics.
The Australian Defence Force’s Director General Training and Doctrine, Brigadier Mick Ryan, officially signed an agreement with CQU’s Vice- Chancellor Professor Scott Bowman yesterday at the Townsville Defence Community Forum.
The agreement will mean that ADF members can undertaking higher education in either a Diploma of Logistics or Bachelor of Logistics.
The Bachelor of Logistics is a two- year course delivered via distance education.
It will be exclusively available for ADF personnel, consisting solely of logistic and supply chain subjects developed by Australian industry, meaning graduates will complete their degree with industry- relevant skills and knowledge.
“This agreement will give Australian Defence Force personnel a fabulous opportunity to not only upskill in the area of logistics but also potentially fast track the time in which they complete their chosen course,” Prof Bowman said.
He said both courses would be offered via distance education meaning the issue of defence personnel posting to bases outside of Townsville wouldn’t be of concern.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to members of the Defence Force,” Prof Bowman said.
Brigadier Ryan said he was a passionate advocate for professional military education and development, which led to his interest in the CQU deal.
He said the new partnership would expose ADF members to the wider world of logistics and ensure they were up to date with the world’s best practice.
