LA’ACE TAKING ON WORLD

- AMY PRICE

SHE may be in the box seat to become Queensland’s fifth consecutive Miss World Australia, but La’Ace De Vries is prepared to put in the hard yards.

The 24- year- old Brisbane model and vet nurse is among the 28 national finalists who will compete for the title at the beauty pageant’s crowning ceremony in Melbourne today. With Brisbane’s former Miss World Australia Courtney Thorpe as her mentor, De Vries placed top three in the preliminary modelling round this week.

“As a young girl I always found it hard to find a positive role model to look up to so if I could win this and be that role model for someone it would be a dream come true, especially at this point in the world,” she said.

“But I’m definitely going to continue doing the charity work with Variety after the competition regardless of what happens and I already have something planned with that.”
