Hovi’s big haul in top meeting

TUESDAY night’s greyhound meet at the showground­s featured nine great races in the first race meeting back after a two- week break.

Trainer Harold Hovi had four dogs race for three winners and a second.

His first winner came in race one, the Angliss Meats Novice over 380m, with Arts scoring by four- and- a- half lengths in 22.22.

His second winner came in race five, the Burdekin Vet Services 5th Grade over 380m, with Superforma­nce scoring by two lengths in 22.36.

His third winner came in race six, the All Rig Lifting & Engineerin­g 3/ 4th Grade over 380m, with Back Street Boy holding on by under a length in 22.12.

Trainer Michael Fusco also got off to a good start when his newly acquired greyhound Runya Down scored first up in race three, the Scoops Fish and Chips 5th Grade over 380m, with an eight- length win in a best of night run of 21.93.

Trainer Rhonda Essery also produced three winners for the night.

Her first winner came in race four, the FV Napier 4/ 5th Grade over 380m, with Amy’s Elite scoring by just over a length in 22.44.

Race seven was the Lounds Fresh Seafood 4/ 5th Grade over 498m and Chips Ahoy scored by three quarters of a length in 29.32.

Her final winner was in race nine, the Kooloop Collars 5th Grade over 380m, with Go Prancer Go scoring by almost three lengths in 22.17.
