JCU also received five stars for learner engagement and in a range of categories across 14 fields of study.

The university’s dentistry and veterinary sciences graduates had the highest employment rates in the country, while JCU’s medicine graduates also had a 100 per cent employment rate.

Third- year medical student Emily Everson was not surprised by JCU’s rating.

“I think a lot of people at JCU are aware that it’s a really practical university and it has good job results,” she said.

“It takes away a lot of anxiety, I think.”

Meanwhile, CQU received five- star results for graduate employment, median graduate salary and social equity.

CQU Vice- Chancellor Scott Bowman, who in the past criticised the guide’s ratings as “unreliable”, said the company behind the publication used an improved methodology based on direct data sources.

“The Good Universities Guide has revealed that CQUni is the best university in Australia for full- time employment in the fields of teacher education, and architecture and building,” he said.

“The guide confirms that our strongest field of study is engineering, with five stars in the full- time employment, learner engagement, starting salary and skills development measures.”
