Fyfe owns up to poor early run
FREMANTLE skipper Nat Fyfe insists he’s not surprised by his All- Australian snub, saying he had a “wishy- washy” AFL season.
No Dockers were named in the extended 40- man All- Australian squad that was released yesterday.
Fyfe missed most of last season with a broken leg and he struggled to recapture his top form in the early part of this year.
But he made a barnstorming finish to the season, stringing together a glut of golden performances in the final eight rounds.
However, it wasn’t enough to get the 2015 Brownlow medallist into the extended All-Australian squad and Fyfe insists he doesn’t have any qualms about the snub.
“Definitely not unlucky at all. I’ve had a wishy- washy year,” Fyfe said.
“I missed 12 months and that was enough to put me back amongst the pack.”
Minor premiers Adelaide have a league- high eight players in the All- Australian squad.
The large Crows’ contingent includes mercurial forward Eddie Betts – one of a dozen members of the 2016 All- Australian team who remain in contention to go backto- back in 2017 – skipper Taylor Walker and midfield stars Rory Sloane and Matt Crouch.
