KIDS INTIMIDATE AGED RESIDENT
TWO kiddie criminals have been found hiding on a roof, after they terrorised an elderly woman in a retirement village.
The boys, aged 11 and 12, were found on the roof of the Mundingburra home, following their involvement in the harassment of an elderly woman, along with two other boys.
The group is accused of scaring the woman, 86, by banging on her glass door and wandering around her backyard. Police rushed to the home and quickly set up a cordon to catch the offenders, picking up two nearby, before locating the others on the roof of the Mundingburra home.
Acting Inspector Leonie Steyger said police got a call about 9.35pm on Sunday.
“Police were called to a retirement village on Acacia St in Mundingburra, after receiving information that there were several youths there that were trespassing,” Insp Steyger said.
“An 86- year- old female occupant had heard the youths in the yard and had gone outside to establish what was occurring, the youths have then taunted her and she has contacted police.
“They have then, when she has gone inside her residence, they’ve slapped the glass door and taunted her a little bit further.
“Definitely frightening for her, she is distraught and upset over the incident.
“Several police units arrived and set up cordons, including police dog squad, and two youths were taken into custody at the time and a further two youths were located nearby on rooftop of a residence in Mulligan St.”
The two boys were found on Sue Blair’s roof and she said it was “chaos”, with police everywhere trying to get the crims off her roof.
“One of my neighbours rang me to tell me there were police everywhere, another neighbour texted me to tell me there were people in the bottom of her yard,” Mrs Blair said.
“The next thing, I get a text and it says they’re on my roof, that they could see them from their house.
“It was just chaos, there was flashlights everywhere, there were people running and screaming and I can hear all of these people on my roof.”
She said people should be able to feel comfortable in their own home.
“I was fast asleep and then it was pandemonium,” she said
“You should feel comfortable in your own home and not have things like this happen. Thankfully we have really good neighbours and we look out for each other.”
Two boys aged 13 and 15 were charged with trespassing and the 11and 12- year- olds charged with trespassing and obstruct police. They have been given notices to appear in court.
