ZARRAFFAS Triple Shots have started the Townsville Basketball Super League season with a bang after downing Grill’dsville 82- 56.

Led by Nathan Jorgensen ( 15 points), Max Norton ( 15) and Edward Warrington ( 11), Zarraffas surged to a 22- 12 first quarter buffer before turning it up in the second to hold a 48- 23 halftime advantage.

Grill’dsville had their best term in the third, outscoring Zarraffas 19 points to 17, but the fightback was temporary.

Grill’dsville’s Brady Rutland scored a game high 26 points, four of his shots coming from beyond the arc, and Arthur Katthagen had 12.

Global Welding Supplies beat Burdekin Wildcats 82- 76 in Saturday’s closest game, Joshua Myles top scoring with 27 points, and teammates Kailu George and Callaway Parker picking up 18 each.

Matthew Kelly and John Bonanno top scored for Burdekin with 18 points each.

Tube Thunder won an absorbing encounter against Brother’s Leagues Club Leprechaun­s, leading 24- 9 at the end of the opening quarter before enduring a Brother’s comeback to prevail 87- 73.

Tube Thunder benefited from of spread of scorers, Jordan Baleiktuba ( 19), Joseph Griffiths ( 19), Boston Mazlin ( 14) and Hayden Lynham ( 12).

The women’s Super League season held its draft on Saturday and begins next week.

The men’s Super League season, which runs for 10 rounds, resumes next week and concludes with grand finals on December 10.
