Innocent Man could get verdict

- LEE PEARCE

GREYHOUND racing returns to the Townsville Showgrounds tonight with an 11race program.

With the NQ Cup Heats just two weeks away, there are several Rockhampton visitors travelling to give their dogs a look at the track.

Race three is the All Rig Lifting and Engineering Open over 498m. This is an open race with the favourite likely to be Innocent Man ( 2) for Glen Olsen. He won from this box last week in 29.03 seconds.

Asa Abbandando ( 1) for Clarence Wilcox ran a good second last week behind Innocent Man, and has drawn well and only needs to jump to have a chance at turning the tables.

Are Jay Duree ( 6) for Kaye Taylor has had four placings over the distance and with a clear run could sneak the win.

Race four is the Lounds Fresh Seafood fifth grade over 498m. Usurper ( 8) for Darren Taylor has won his past three starts in Rockhampton over 407m, and won over 510m before his first look at the track.

Black Mass ( 6) for Rhonda Essery ran a good second last week behind Korcheck while the consistent Arts ( 4) for Harold Hovi comes home strong.

Alpha Hector ( 2) for Tarquin Neal ran a good second at his first start on the track last week behind Amy’s Elite over 380m and the step up in distance should suit.

Race eight is the Bohle Barn Hotel Motel Best Eight over 380m. Backstreet Boy ( 3) for Harold Hovi has hit a purple patch and should be favourite.

Toes ( 1) for Glen Olsen has been in consistent form and has a chance.
