Percivals on show today

THE first stage of the biennial Percival Portrait Prize Exhibition opens today.

The exhibition is at the Perc Tucker Regional Gallery and the portrait painting winner will also be announced today. The second category for portrait photography will then be at Pinnacles Gallery at the Riverway Arts Centre, and the winner announced on May 4.

Both exhibitions run until July 15. The Percivals first started in 2007 as North Queensland’s own portraiture exhibition. Townsville City Council Community and Cultural Development Committee chair, councillor Colleen Doyle, said the Percivals were a highlight of the gallery’s calendar.
