Shot teen puzzles cops

-

DETECTIVES will speak to a teenage girl who was shot through the thigh as investigators try to establish a motive for the drive- by attack in western Sydney.

The 13- year- old was chatting with a group of other girls in an open garage at a property in Guildford on Tuesday night when a silver SUV pulled up and shots rang out.

One of the bullets ripped through the girl’s thigh. She was rushed to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead where she underwent surgery.

The teen remained in a stable condition yesterday. Authorities believe the shooting was not random and suspect that while the house was likely targeted, the girl was not.

Detectives, who haven’t revealed a motive for the attack, will interview the girl when her condition improves, NSW Police said. The girl’s mother says she has no idea what sparked the shooting.

“She was in the wrong place at the wrong time,” she said.
