Don’t throw dirt at Diggers who serve

-

AFTER watching the Report on ABC TV recently it looks as though we are going to have a sequel to Breaker Morant if our national broadcaster ABC gets its way.

In the name of “investigative journalism” the ABC is going to try to ruin the lives of good soldiers who were sent under orders to a war zone to protect the very freedoms under which the ABC operates.

They would rather believe the version told by locals, that they were not Taliban supporters.

Our young men and women who risk their lives to serve our country deserve better than this.

It’s very easy for armchair critics that have never had a bullet whistle past their head or had an improvised explosive device blow one of their comrades apart to sit there and be critical of the actions of a front- line soldier.

We train our soldiers to be killing machines in wars because in battle the difference between life and death is sometimes decided by split- second decisions.

It’s not like some computer game where you get another chance.

I am sickened by the traitors like the ABC that hide behind a camera and bring our soldiers into disrepute, along with some of our politicians who like to take photo opportunities with our Diggers but are prepared to hang them out to dry later on.

We need to support our troops, not punish them for doing their job. MICHAEL ABRAHAM,

Idalia.
