Life up north clicks with love of fashion

LOOK out world, you’re about to be covered in pretty.

That’s Jaimee Bathurst’s message to readers.

The Townsville mother of two harbours dreams of building a fashion empire and given her online store Pretty Love Fashion is three years down the track, Jaimee is well and truly on her way to achieving that goal.

“In 2014 after my daughter was born I decided to start my own business,” she said.

“It was always something I wanted to do.

“p r e t t y l o v e f a s h i o n . c o m came to fruition and has been trading with local, national and international customers since August 8, 2015.”

The fashion industry is half the world away from Jaimee’s day job as a GIS analyst and spatial systems specialist at a major engineering firm in Townsville.

“( You know) the saying there’s more than one way to skin a cat? Well, there’s more than one way to draw a map.”

Jaimee was born in Towns- ville but her family moved to Brisbane and then Charters Towers until they returned to the capital of North Queensland when Jaimee was five years old.

“( We moved) to be closer to my mum’s family and they made the decision to move back to Townsville for a better lifestyle with more opportunities,” Jaimee said.

“Growing up in Townsville was really good; in the evenings and on the weekends we would go out with mum and dad, either help with the family business or enjoy each other’s company down the Strand, swimming and mucking around. Family is always our No. 1 priority so we always made the most of our time together.”

Jaimee lives in Townsville with her husband Scott and two pre- preschool aged children.

She’s been in her current role at the engineering firm for about six months after rejoining the workforce following the birth of her baby boy.

“Though he isn’t such a baby any more,” she said. “I love the challenges of the role.”

But Jaimee also loves running her online female fashion shop.

“Basically, Pretty Love’s motto is: Fashion is what we wear and style is who we are,” she said.

There isn’t much spare time in between working and looking after a family but Jaimee enjoys catching up with family and friends in Townsville and likes to take time out to exercise.
