Time to stop handouts to alternative energy
ONE has to wonder about the leftwing organisation called GetUp!, which on the surface appears to be little more than a political agitator for the Greens and Labor, that has a big budget and a small representation in the community.
According to the GetUp! Income Statement June 30, 2017 the sum of $ 4,629,639 was the cost of “Employee Benefits Expense”, assumedly wages.
This seems like a large amount to pay for “looking after everyday Australians” and, of course, themselves.
I recently read an article where the GetUp! director stated that his organisation would not stop campaigning against “multimillion- dollar tax handouts until they are scrapped”. Another of their many campaigns is “Global Warming” – but wait, it’s not actually warming, so we will call it “Climate Change” – and the switch to renewable energy.
Another recent article stated that: “After 10 years with the growth of renewables subsidised by some $ 3 billion a year, wholesale electricity costs have doubled and households costs, once the lowest in the world, are now among the highest.”
So where is the campaign to halt the “billion- dollar handouts ( subsidies)” for the development of alternative energy, which, even at its best, will not be able to supply continuous power for most of Australia? ROSS ANDERSON, South Townsville.
