Sita Retreat, Burdell YARRAWONGA Drive has topped the list of Townsville’s most viewed streets on realestate. com. au.
Figures from realestate. com. au show it’s been clicked on more than any other street in the Townsville local government area.
Yarrawonga Drive on Castle Hill is one of Townsville’s most prestigious streets with homes regularly selling for more than $ 1 million.
Smith and Elliott principal Sally Elliott has sold multiple properties on the street and said it had a winning combination of views and premium properties.
“Firstly it’s got an amazing outlook and every part of Yarrawonga Drive has a slightly different outlook,” she said.
“The other thing about Yarra- wonga Drive is its accessibility and it’s not just walking distance to Townsville Grammar, it’s also close to Central State School and Belgian Gardens State School.
“Most of the people that live there are owner occupiers so it has a good sense of community.
“The value of any property up there in the land content and a lot of the homes up here were built post Cyclone Althea so they are built to withstand cyclones.
“As the older generation are moving on and downsizing there is a new generation moving in with young children and teenagers.”
Ms Elliott recently sold 29 Yarrawonga Drive for $ 1.1 million.
The five- bedroom home was under contract before it officially hit the market with the buyer wowed by the views.
Cook St in North Ward was Townsville’s second most viewed street on realestate. com. au with Stagpole St in West End rounding out the top three.
Bundock St in Belgian Gardens and Ogden St in the city also made the top 10.
Lyn Watts has lived at 37 Yarrawonga Drive for the past 11 years and said it was a fantastic place to live.
She has reluctantly listed her house of sale with plans to downsize but says she will miss the views, breezes and proximity to everything Townsville has to offer.
“I think the view and the breezes are the best thing because of a night time you can sit out on the deck with- out needing the airconditioner on,” she said.
“The closeness to everything has also been great and we love just being able to walk down to The Strand.
“We had our daughter and grandkids living here with us. They went to Townsville Grammar which is just down the road.”
Like many Yarrawonga Drive homes Ms Watts’ house has sweeping views of the ocean and city.
It’s being sold by Ms Elliott and is on the market for $ 1.75 million.
