Townsville Bulletin - - NEWS -

PRIME Minister Scott Morrison has begged the North Queensland Cowboys to call off its pursuit of Townsville- born fullback Valentine Holmes.

Mr Morrison, an avid Cronulla “Sharkies” fan, pleaded in front of the media at a press conference during his stop over at Townsville this week.

The Prime Minister was in Townsville to announce the funding of a $ 200 million water security project for Brownsville.

Mr Morrison tried to use this funding to bargain with Townsville and allow Cronulla to keep the premiership winning fullback.

“I make one humble request of the people of Townsville,” Mr Morrison said.

“In relation to all this, you’ve got to let me keep Valentine Holmes at the Sharks, OK? That’s the one thing I ask.

“I know he’s a Townsville boy but he’s having a great time with my boys at the Sharks, so let Val stay and let’s get on with the projects.”

Holmes is off contract at the end of the 2019 season, and is now open to negotiations with rival clubs.

HANDS OFF: Prime Minister Scott Morrison ( inset) would love the North Queensland Cowboys not to lure Valentine Holmes away from Cronulla.
