Reverend rejoices in busy role

- KELSIE IORIO

THE Very Reverend Dr Keith Joseph has been elected as the new Anglican Bishop of the North Queensland Diocese.

Dr Joseph will take over the role from Bishop Bill Ray, who announced his retirement in September.

Dr Joseph said he was stunned and delighted to have been selected for the role, and will be officially consecrated and installed in late March 2019.

“I’m stunned because it’s such a big job and to be following behind someone like Bill Ray, and delighted because I’ve frequented North Queensland and I love the place,” he said.

Dr Joseph holds a PhD in Philosophy, is an ex- soldier and officer in the Australian Army and has worked with the Australian Federal Police.

The Anglican Diocese of North Queensland is one of the largest in the country, spanning the Torres Strait, Cape York, Cairns, Townsville and Mackay, Gulf Savannah, then west to Charters Towers, Cloncurry and Mount Isa – and everything in between.
