Lewis relishes being wickedly good

Townsville Bulletin - - SPORT - JON TUXWORTH

IF THIS was a Rocky movie, Lewis Chadwick would have been Ivan Drago.

The 18- year- old relished the villain role to outsmart Tasmania’s “golden boy” Daniel Best to win the 67- 71kg national title in Hobart at the weekend.

The Dreams Boxing Club fighter outlasted local favourite Best via points decision to claim his first Australian crown.

Hawks Boxing Club’s Coo- per Maddern, 15, made it a golden double for Townsville by winning the 63.5kg 15- 16 years division title.

The pair have spent the past few months sparring against each other to achieve their dreams.

Chadwick sports a tattoo on his left shoulder which may be proving to be his lucky charm.

“It’s the symbol of protection from my Scandinavian heritage. I got it this year and haven’t lost with it on yet,” Chadwick said.
