Momentum is now going with Norths
NORTHS captain Matthew McGuire says his team’s recent resurgence and Sub Parks’ stutters has given them belief they’re not merely playing for second place in Townsville A grade cricket.
Sub Parks have long held had a stranglehold on the competition, but have shown vulnerability in recent weeks with three straight defeats after winning their opening six games. They are now in second place behind Wests, who take on Norths at Endeavour Oval today.
Norths have won their past two games to solidify third spot, but hope to finish higher up the ladder.
Talented young batsmen Adam Zabala will return from representative duties for today’s match, and McGuire said the return of keeperbatsman Josh De Munari and bowling spearhead Sam Collingwood had put his team in an ideal position.
Norths have the bye in next week’s final round before the Christmas break, adding more importance to today’s clash.
“It ( wins) have come with having all our players available and back from rep cricket,” McGuire said.
