Moga to face court over alleged head slap

NEWCASTLE centre Tautau Moga allegedly slapped a taxi driver twice in the head on Boxing Day which has led to an assault charge.

It is alleged Moga, 25, and another man were refused entry into a Newcastle King St pub on Boxing Day.

News Corp has learnt the two men got into a taxi where the alleged incident took place.

Police confirmed Moga was charged with common assault.

“It is alleged the 25-year-old man slapped the taxi driver twice in the head,” a police statement read. “Police were notified and attended a short time later. The 25-year-old was arrested and taken to Newcastle police station.

“The man was issued with an infringeme­nt notice for fail to quit licensed premises. Following further inquires on Wednesday he was charged by way of future court attendance notice for common assault.”

Moga is due to appear in Newcastle local court on March 21 – just six days after Newcastle’s round one clash against Cronulla.

The Knights confirmed the club was “aware of an incident involving a player”.

“The club alerted the NRL Integrity Unit at an appropriat­e time and are co-operating with the NSW Police,” the club said in a statement.

Meanwhile Canterbury say they aware of a sex tape involving new recruit Dylan Napa.

Video emerged on social media yesterday appearing to show the Queensland State of Origin prop engaging in a sexual act with a women, filmed by a third party.

“The club has today been made aware of alleged images surfacing on social media of a current player taken several years ago,” Canterbury said in a statement. The NRL are also aware of the matter.

Napa, 26, played six seasons with the Sydney Roosters after debuting in 2013 before moving to Canterbury this offseason.
