PDA reins lead vision for our city
DESIGN guidelines for the Townsville City Waterfront Priority Development Area, which is already beginning to transform the city, have been officially enacted.
The guidelines, which are now in place, provide clarity for the types of building and design standards that may be used in future developments throughout the PDA, including public spaces.
Townsville Acting Mayor Les Walker said the PDA guidelines aligned with the council’s Townsville 2020 vision, which aimed to provide world-class experiences for locals and visitors while enhancing the unique North Queensland lifestyle.
“Townsville 2020 was implemented to provide a clear vision for our city; these guidelines will ensure we attract developments that are suited for the Priority Development Area,” he said.
“The PDA will encourage development along the Ross Creek and provides residents and businesses with certainty.”
The guidelines were adopted at a full council meeting on November 27 last year.
