Burst water main a traffic headache

-

A BURST water main forced the partial closure of one of Townsville’s busiest roads.

Townsville City Council crews were called to fix the water main on the corner of Charters Towers Rd and Soule St on Saturday.

One lane of traffic was closed to allow the crews to carry out the repairs.

A council spokesman thanked businesses and residents for their patience.

“The businesses on Charters Towers Rd – between Clayton and Fraire St – have no access to water but council crews are already on site fixing the water main,” the spokesman said.

“We are expecting to repair the leak by the end of the day and restore water to those affected as quickly as possible.

“Once the leak has been repaired the road will be reopened.”
