Game Of Thrones countdown has started

-

WINTER is coming early – with Game Of Thrones producers confirming the final season will hit our screens here from April 15.

HBO has made viewers wait for hotly anticipated farewell episodes, which wrapped filming last June after eight seasons.

Just who will inherit the throne in the final battles between the people of Westeros and Essos will unfold in less than “90 days, 23 hours, 55 minutes, 27 seconds” — the stopwatch set by the studio and posted to its Instagram account yesterday.

Critical acclaim and audience devotion has built it a massive following and saw the series bank nine wins at the last Emmy Awards, in- cluding outstanding drama series – the most wins by a scripted series ever; a record 47 gongs.

Based on the best-selling book series by George R.R. Martin, and created for TV by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, it has proved so popular a prequel has already been confirmed, with the storyline to be drawn from Martin’s Song Of Fire And Ice title.

Australia’s Naomi Watts will take the starring role in the project.

Viewers wanting to catch up on all seven seasons of Game of Thrones can stream it through Foxtel On Demand and Foxtel Now.

All seven seasons will also screen on Foxtel’s Boxsets channel throughout March.
