Are the police going to book MP O’toole for the illegal parking of her advertising truck on the footpath along Mt Low Parkway? Pedestrians have to enter the roadway to pass around this vehicle, a dangerous manoeuver. What is she thinking? Tony Mt Low 4818

Getup, well organised & funded, with close links to both Labor & Greens, every Federal election “targets” a handful of conservative politicians. It sends a message of intimidation, stay within certain policy parameters or look out! Those politicians who care about regional jobs like Adani, & who don’t want our energy costs raised by the mad renewable climate change nazis, are most at risk of being targeted. Getup, the mob who want Aust Day changed, & the economic refugee boats to start hitting our shores again. Pedro Cranbrook

Council need to control the noxious woody weeds on their land on upper Bayswater road. Mt Louisa Al.

I suggest Coralie Cassidy read the Australian newspaper of 14/1/19 and the article - Blaming 1788 won’t fix child suicides - by Dr. Anthony Dillon. Excellent piece - unlike the ravings and ranting of yours in the Bulletin of 12/1/19. Gran

Jayne Bushland Beach, great idea but unfortunately it doesn’t work that way,at my place there is always some excuse why they won’t come in &read the meter eg: can’t confirm the dog is tied up, even though it’s been explained numerous times that there are 3 fences between the meter & the dog plus she is tied up as well or can’t get in because the gate is locked I’m not a mind reader so I don’t know which day they’re coming haven’t they heard all the police warnings about keeping property locked up anyway I have been reading the meter for them for the last 7 years & leave it on the gate guess what I still get charged the meter reading fee. Parents can try their best but sadly cannot stop their children from consuming dangerous and illicit substances at music festivals. So the next best thing is to ask the child to sign a medical form to be an organ donor should the unexpected occur. At least the waste of a young life might help other more grateful teens to live a long and fruitful life. The physical signing of the organ donor form may even prove to be a light bulb moment for our know-it-all-andbullet-proof teenage children. Pete at Douglas

Can’t get my head around why today’s teenagers feel the need to take drugs at music festivals, since making this text, yet another teenager has died from an overdose. How many more families are going to be put through this grief, because their child has made a bad decision at a music festival? Some might find this hard to believe, but I was young once, I’ve been to lots of festivals, and not one person died. There’s only one sensible solution, ban all drugs at festivals, and get high on the music. D. Bilton w /end

Let us hope that in upcoming election the lnp is removed so we get a government that governs for working people Greg annandale 4814

So the far left group Get-up don’t like

Dutton, Abbot, coal mines, off-shore detention, or Australia Day. No suprise when you consider they’re funded by nation undermining usurper George Soros open borders foundation. DAN,AYR

What hypocrites. Adani stopped because of black throat finches. I personally have seen black throats in the area where the Kelso solar farm is but that is ok because it is a greeny friendly construction. Dave H

Hagar the Humerous Mt Low - I agree with you, I have a dog and Ergon have always managed to read my meter without any issues. But now as all dogs must be restrained they won’t be reading my meter. Fine but don’t charge me or tell me the exactly day and time you WILL turn up and

I’ll lock my dog away. But I will not be restraining my dog for 1, 2 or 3 days in row Re ‘weeds inaction’ in article 14/1/18, I really feel for the landholder. I’m surrounded by Leucaena leucocephala weed in neighbouring properties, have contacted council as every day my yard is inundated with seed pods which nearly all germinate if not picked up. Some seeds blow in front yard from a nearby council property. Council says it’s civil. I can’t afford to take two neighbours and council to court so I continue my daily routine of picking up seed pods, pulling out seedlings, have done this for 19 years! Council needs to do more. All they’ve got to do is declare this weed noxious and it wouldn’t be up to me and my financial status to tackle the issue. Rebus Pimlico

for when they decide to turn up. This had happened to a friend when told Ergon was coming and then they dont turn up. People cannot restrain their dogs for days while they are at work. Please just target the not so friendly dogs that they’ve had issues with not all dogs. Nanny 4818

Jayne Bushland Beach. Brilliant idea texting a photo of you meter reading to Ergon. However Ergon is government owned. They won’t do things that make sense. Even if they do they would only give up the $100 meter reading Stealth Tax kicking and screaming. After all they need flash new tunnels in the Great Southeast Kingdom after all. Bing 4814

Now that the flying fox numbers have been substantially reduced at Dan Gleeson gardens it would be a perfect time to move them on to a more suitable location but the council has done nothing to address the problem, they have still been working at night so as to not disturb them and the fence that was built to keep people out of the area at what I’m sure was at great expense because it was installed at night was a waste of money because the flying foxes have destroyed most of the reserved section and are now roosting in other areas of the park Geoff 4817

Hey dan forty eight dollars is ok try ingham i mean stingham fifty eight dollars a carton makes the drive to townsville worthwhile frank It’s such a shame that when “among the worst” statistics in just about anything are released, Townsville is always up there. Now it’s paramedics, whose only aim is to provide assistance, who are being attacked and villified. What is wrong with our city that seems to bring out the bad in so many people? Ags Hermit Pk

Don. 4814. There is another reason Cairns has outstripped Townsville with development & infrastructure. It has been serviced by two labor State Treasurers in Delacy & Pitt.

Cj avale yeh we go on about the rise of petrol but going up by 4cents a litre but my beer went up 1.26 a litre stewie mburra

Do you suppose that Anna is deliberately delaying Adani’s approval until after the federal election so that she can say to the people of Queensland “it was the Federal Labor Government that knocked that project back not my Government.” Les Kirwan

Joe Blake i have always opposed secession it’s archaic & brings more problems than it solves once u are over the warm & fuzzy feeling. Duplication of svs already provided under another top floor of departmental bureaucrats on 7 figure salaries is just the entree. The pomp & protocol of Westminster then provides (1). A Governor, mansion, limo & staff. (2). A Parliament House, staff, fleet of limos & a golden trough for another bunch of party hacks disguised as politicians to further their careers, obey their leader & to hell with u Joe. Then comes the inevitable centralism which evolves in the new capital while those out in the boondocks are again neglected. We can achieve change by demanding candidates next election serve us & challenge the power base, our 3 current state MPS don’t cut it & never will. WW. C/ jong.

If it had not been the black throated finch, these fruit loops who are holding up the Adani mine project would have miraculously found a one eyed three legged green frog that was going to be endangered, the list would have been endless. Ron Kelso.

Coralie Cassidy’s letter will again spark the old history debate so let’s cut to the chase. Her unforgiving nature & bitterness paints a tragic figure which should be pitied for having to endure a disposition not normal in an ever changing world. Your culture is no more special than all other indigenous nations who suffered dreadfully during colonial exploration & settlement (invasion). If u really want to improve your people’s standing in today’s world demand your children obtain the education available to all & stop wallowing in self pity, they are your future. Coralie foreign invaders existed millenniums ago they didn’t suddenly pop up on your shore 200 yrs ago. Hypothetically had Aust. never been colonised, & had the USA not fought Japan to save your country as well as contribute in Europe, how were your people going to defend your land against the Japanese invasion fleet, with spears & boomerangs? Carl. Pimlico.

I have been reading comments on Cairns vs Townsville for some time. Took a trip up there recently and I have to say it is buzzing. The city gardens etc all beautifully maintained and the city is clean and tidy . Can see the rate dollars at work unlike the sad neglected persona of Townsville. A new council cannot come quick enough, hopefully someone with a bit of interest in our image with visitors. Unhappy Cranbrook

That black throated finch appears to be very selective when choosing its habitat. It resides in Oak Valley but no where near the Solar farm, just kilometres away on the other side of Ross Dam. It lives in the Galilee Basin but not anywhere near Hughenden or Clare, sites for huge renewable power projects. I wonder how loud the protests would have been if it was found living in SE Qld about the site of a new mega shopping centre or new motor way? I think it would have been extinct by now not endangered. JJ Kirwan

You can tell where Townsville Council has been working by the number of new weed species brought into the area. They even have a new one with pretty white flowers. Axe, Cluden

We constantly read and hear of physical assaults of our paramedics, police and other public servants but never any perpetrators getting a conviction. Are they (perpetrators) exempt like the others going through the revolving door? M J Reynolds Mt Louisa

Another weekend goes by and another group of break and enters that ends up with more stolen cars, but this time one is used to try to mow down Police officers trying to uphold the law. Thankfully the officers were not seriously harmed, but I bet if the cops had pulled their guns and opened fire in self defence, the Talentless Trio would be screaming that their softly softly approach would have prevented a tragedy. Kids in jail can’t steal cars. Azza 4812

So I noticed there was something missing from the list of supplies schoolkids need in the weekend paper, and no it wasn’t the kitchen sink. It’s a trolley! Cause how else are those kids going to cart all that stuff around without some extra help, right? Topher 4810

If only the current set of politicians had the same amount of kahunas that John Howard has! David Douglas
