Free service for waste dumping

-

TOWNSVILLE residents will be able to dump waste for free until next month as the city cleans up after the unprecedented floods.

Townsville Local Recovery and Resilience Group chairman Deputy Mayor Les Walker said the council would provide residents with free dumping of domestic waste at all council waste facilities until March 3.

“Council crews are still undertaking kerbside clean-ups in the worst-impacted areas, including parts of Railway Estate, Hermit Park, Oonoonba, Idalia, Rosslea, Annandale, Mundingburra,” he said. “Residents in other areas can take their rubbish to any of council’s waste sites as well as Lou Litster Park for free to help the community with the flood clean-up.

“So far residents have dumped over 18,000 tonnes of waste during this recovery period.”

Cr Russ Cook said annual waste kerbside collection would start again in late March.
