Rocking on for charity
TOWNSVILLE’S very own 1RAR Band and Dancenorth will join together this Friday and Saturday for Rock Swings, a charity concert fundraising for important causes.
Dancenorth company manager Eloise Grace said the company was thrilled to be partnering with the band, with proceeds going to Townsville Legacy and Dancenorth Community Enrichment projects.
“A fantastic set has been pulled together featuring all of your toe-tapping rock and roll favourites and the dancefloor is being polished as we speak,” she said.
“Through fundraising events such as Rock Swings, Dancenorth aim to raise funds to ensure that we continue the vitally important work we do with diverse and minority groups across Queensland, using dance to support, enhance, inspire and heal and bringing communities together. Funds raised will impact on the lives of many including indigenous youth, asylum seekers and refugees and people with disability.
“At a time when our Towns- ville community is recovering from the wreckage of the recent floods, the 1RAR concerts are a unique and valuable experience to enjoy as we rebuild as a community.”
Audiences can enjoy either general admission to take part in the night of entertainment, or pair the performances with banquet seating and gourmet catering by Jam Corner.
Officer Commanding 1RAR Band Major Matt Chilmaid said the set would include wellknown favourites.
“All our public engagement concerts are designed to be a focus for the community to rally around and come and enjoy themselves, listen to world class music in great environments and raise a little money on the side that we give to deserving charities,” he said.
