Brief lesson in finch varieties

- KEN KNUTH, Rangewood.

SORRY Roger of Mt Louisa, the picture of the “spice” finch ( TB Texts, 11/3), is more commonly known as a “nutmeg” finch, and they were introduced into Australia from India a long time ago.

We used to breed them. One would have to be blind to mistake them from our native blackthroat finch that is everywhere in North Queensland and causing so much controversy.
