Climate cult faith causing real damage

-

WITH all the discussion of Israel Folau going on, have you wondered why Christianity is in decline when it is our foundational religion and has generated the most successful societies in history?

Religion has always sought to explain the seemingly random events that occur to us as individuals and societies, but in the modern era science has offered better explanations for many of them.

Similarly to religion, science also offers hope of full explanations for things that remain unexplained. In many ways, faith in science has taken over from faith in an almighty god.

Human nature being what it is, it was inevitable that the human propensity to believe would be hijacked for political purposes – and so we have the global warming cult.

This cult, led by the UN’S IPCC, has piggybacked on the credibility of true science to produce a popular belief in a particularly “settled science”.

“Belief” explains why so many followers of the climate cult require no detailed grasp of atmospheric physics, weather cycles, grid-scale electrical engineering or any other specialist field.

They don’t need verifiable knowledge because they have faith; but faith in the climate cult won’t keep our lights on, our workplaces open or our supermarkets full of food.

Sadly, too many of our populist politicians have embraced this fake, sciencey-sounding faith and it is having profoundly negative effects on our economy and society.

As a lifelong agnostic, I’m beginning to see the value of Christianity and I admire Folau’s efforts to reassert its role in our society.
