Vets back to help their furry friends

-

ALMOST six months after the floods, retailers in Idalia’s Fairfield Homemaker Centre have reopened to provide muchneeded services.

Two who are welcoming their clients back are Greencross Vets and Petbarn.

The business owners have installed a new concept fitout; the first store in the Petbarn group in Queensland to have the makeover.

Greencross Vets Fairfield practice manager Aimee Vidler was relieved the shop was back on its feet.

“The whole team are passionate about our jobs, the clients and pets. They are like family to us. It was a huge hit to everyone,” Ms Vidler said.

Greencross left their premises on February 1 before the peak of the flooding two days later and were unable to return for about five days. The Greencross Fairfield staff were able to work at the brand’s five other outlets in the city.

“It was hard and long,” Ms Vidler said. “The community have been great and everybody has got behind us.

“Since we have reopened people have popped in to say hello and have a look at the clinic.”

Petbarn and Greencross Vets are the first Queensland store to be refurbished with their new concept fitout.

Ms Vidler said the timber flooring provided a more homely, country feel and it gave them a point of difference to other stores.

She said the Fairfield clinic had been extremely busy before the closure, usually fully booked each day, trade was returning.

“The clinic was a huge loss for this side of town,” Ms Vidler said.

“The good thing to come out of this is that everyone pulled together.”

In other centre moves, Cyrus Rugs have opened a second Townsville store joining Beacon Lighting, Pillow Talk, World Gym, Lincraft, Nutrition Warehouse and Tradelink.

Queensland X-ray have rebuilt their premises and are due to open Monday, July 15.

Petbarn and Greencross will have an open day with food stalls and prizes on Saturday, from 10am to 2pm, while the centre will have a Community Opening Celebration on Wednesday, July 31. and that
