Cowboys ticket prices revealed

- JACOB MILEY

THE North Queensland Cowboys have promised to keep ticket prices affordable for members when the club moves to its new stadium next year.

High-end members will pay slightly more for tickets next season, but the cost of unreserved seats in the Southern Grandstand will be lower than comparative tickets on the hills at 1300SMILES Stadium.

General admission ticket prices will be released early next year.

HIGH-END members will fork out slightly more for North Queensland Cowboys tickets next season but, in a win for fans, one section of seats will be cheaper than they are now.

Cowboys chief executive Jeff Reibel said the club had worked extremely hard to give fans the best experience in the new stadium and keep prices down.

While there was a slight price rise for most of the packages, based on past yearly increases it would have been the same had they stayed at the ageing 1300SMILES Stadium, he said.

The highest increase is $3 a game for adults for the Diamond and Platinum packages, but unreserved seating within the Southern Grandstand has adults saving more than $2 on a match.

“When you look at that price rise of $3 per game, which is $810 for 12 games, we think that’s quite palatable given that we are going from a stadium that’s given us so much memories … (but) unfortunately, it’s now out of date,” Mr Reibel said.

General admission ticket prices will not be released until the new year, but Mr Reibel said a similar increase would apply. He said with a new stadium came new costs, but they were able to keep them as low as possible after discussions with Stadiums Queensland.

“That was our No.1 principle … keeping prices affordable and dispelling the theory that there would be this massive price jump going from A to B,” he said.

In a big win for fans looking for a new seat in the absence of the hill areas, membership prices for unreserved seats in the Southern Grandstand will be cheaper than at 1300SMILES Stadium.

“We’ve taken that into account to ensure that we give the people that have sat on the hill different options,” Mr Reibel said.

“We thought it was really important to be able to promote the fact that people can come and watch their team, their boys, their club, for cheaper than what we are watching at the moment.”

He praised the Cowboys’ staff for their work in the tough process of moving members from 1300SMILES Stadium.

“We took an approach of manually picking those people up, looking at where their best equivalent seat is … and then going through the individual contact process to talk to them,” Mr Reibel said.
