Surgery for alleged Townsville shooter
A MAN accused of a Townsville shooting has undergone surgery at a Cairns hospital.
Detectives arrested Dylan Ryan Tuckwell-cvek, 25, and Kayla Cheree Maxfield, 24, at Cairns Hospital on Tuesday after an alleged shooting in Townsville earlier this month.
Tuckwell-cvek was being prepped for surgery yesterday while his matter was being raised in Cairns Magistrates Court.
Magistrate Joe Pinder ruled it unnecessary to transfer the bed-bound defendant to the watch-house for the brief mention.
Co-accused Maxfield remained in custody and did not appear in court.
They are both charged with arson, attempted grievous bodily harm and unlawful use of vehicle.
Maxfield will drugs charges.
Police have alleged the couple was involved in two incidents at Kirwan on August 5 and 11, when a firearm was discharged into a residence and vehicle.
It will be alleged Maxfield went to a Gould St address on August 5 around 11.50pm and fired a number of shots into a garage door.
Police allege she left the address in a dark-coloured vehicle but returned six nights later with Tuckwell-cvek.
Police further allege the pair, driving a red Mercedes, pulled up behind the rear of the residents’ Landcruiser and fired shots into the vehicle.
The court heard Maxfield was wanted on a return to prison warrant.
She did not apply for bail and the matters were adjourned to Townsville Magistrates Court on September 5. also face
