Bowling fun right up your alley

-

A POPULAR Townsville leisure and entertainment venue reopens its doors today, with a modern overhaul of the 1980sfeel bowling alley.

Kingpin general manager Liam Macglip said significant renovations to its Thuringowa site had turned the bowling alley into a “destination venue” with something for everyone.

“The renovation will add at least 500sq m of entertainment space including lots of new areas for people to relax,” he said. “There’s so many additional attractions including doubling the number of arcade games, an incredible new redemption shop with lots of merchandise, table tennis and a VIP function room with karaoke as well as beer pong and table football.”

Mr Macglip said the new Kingpin was bowling as you had never seen it before.

“We’re still going to have 18 lanes of bowling and live music but we’ve refreshed so it doesn’t have that 1980s retro feel where it’s dark and dingy,” he said.

“What we found is people want experiences far more than possessions, it’s actually about time with friends and family that is really important and therefore we want to make as many activities for them to enjoy in one place.”

Mr Macglip said the newlook Kingpin had doubled its workforce to 50 people to provide “top quality” service including a concierge.
