China’s rise should worry every Aussie

-

MY time in this world is approaching the tail end of its duration and if it is possible to do something to benefit the country I love, then I shall do so.

The Chinese conundrum is probably somewhat more serious than a lot of folks realise and if it’s feasible to alert Australians to the dangers at hand regarding China, then something positive will occur.

We, Australia, sell products to China worth approximately $62 billion annually. The products are quality made and the Chinese can’t wait to get their hands on them.

They trade products to us of probably equal value; their creations are not. They are cheap, yes, but materials used, manufacturing processes and engineering standards are considerably poor. So you buy another; repeat buying.

They buy one of our products, we buy many of theirs. Not equal is it?

They are expanding their wealth, ours is diminishing. The more of their products the Western world buys, the stronger they become, the weaker the free world becomes. That country has embarked upon a strategy of expansionism that is dangerous, exceptionally serious, and most definitely concerns the security of our land.

China denies its expansionist ambitions, but to those who are willing to look at the obvious facts, it is plain to see.

Once again, it is stressed that when buying anything at all, look for quality products – the end results will help us. COLIN BAKER,

Pentland.
