We’ve all had a gutful of activism
ANTI-ADANI protesters continue to miss their mark.
During the federal election campaign, Bob Brown and his parade of southern activists marched into Queensland in a misguided effort to preach to residents about the perils of the resource sector.
In many regards it was the turning point in the election as it woke Queenslanders, both in the north and south of the state, stirring them to defend their way of life.
This state was not about to be lectured to by people half the world away.
Queenslanders voted Liberal largely due to that.
Despite the majority completely rejecting the views and the actions of these anti-coal protesters and their total failure to have any meaningful impact, the activism continues.
What is worse is the tack protesters are now taking.
They have turned their attention to contractors who are likely to work with mining giant Adani on the opening of its Carmichael mine.
This week engineering firm BMD has been the unlucky target.
Next week, who knows which businesses these people will choose to disrupt?
To what end though?
Instead of growing the support base for this cause or enlightening the populace, by targeting more and more workers in more and more fields, these activists alienate themselves further and draw the ire of ordinary Australians trying to make an honest living.
They do themselves or their cause no favours.
Meanwhile Queensland workers have had a gutful of the almost-daily menace that these protesters have become.
