Arninator knocking on the door

GREYHOUND racing heats up this afternoon with a 12race program at Townsville Showgrounds.

This afternoon’s racing includes two heats of the RQ Maiden 1000 over 380m and the final of the 4/5th Grade over 498m.

Race 1 is the TAB RQ Maiden 1000 Heat 1, where Arninator (8) for Paul Smith has been knocking on the door for a win and may get his chance.

Lovely Maz (1) for Jon Forster is another with consistent form and after drawing well close to the rails has each-way claims.

Two first starters in No Filter (3) for Andrew Wooler and Go Molly Go (6) for Brad Belford get their chance and both are market watches.

Race 2 is Heat 2 of the RQ Maiden 1000 over 380m and shapes as a tight race with multiple chances.

Renshaw Avenue (4) for Paul Smith has consistent form and can run home well.

Andrew Wooler-trained duo Shady Shady (3) and Thannhauser (6) are having their first starts over the distance and track, so watch the market.

Rhonda’s Billy (1) for Rhonda Essery has drawn well and only needs to jump to feature prominently.

Race 7 is the Olsen Family 4/5th Grade Final over 498m and is another hard race to pick, with a few chances.

Tracy’s Shadow (3) for Essery has been brilliant out of the boxes, should lead this field and is an each-way chance.

Silver Weasel (7) for Joan Newnham can begin well on his night and should be up there as one of the early leaders.

Fireball Sam (4) for Clary Wilcox will need to jump and clear the field, but she has been coming home strong at the end of her races.

Plyometric (6) for Harold Hovi has had two starts over the distance for a second and a win last week, so is a strong market watch.

Disco Hips (1) for Carol Pickard is a distance runner who had his first start over the distance last week for a second.

He does his best work at the end of his race and looms as a danger.

Owners, trainers and patrons, note kennelling closes at 2.07pm, with the first race scheduled for 2.54pm.
