Final highlight of top program

- LEE PEARCE

THE Robert Olsen Memorial Maiden final will highlight an exciting 11-race program at the Townsville Showground tonight.

It will be supported by a stacked program that also includes three 5th Grade heats over the 498m distance as well as the Australia Day Trophy Final over 498m.

The ultra-impressive Irinka Max will jump from box six as an obvious favourite in the Robert Olsen Memorial final over 380m. The runner out of the Harold Hovi kennel won his heat last week in a sizzling 21.94 seconds from the inside alley. He has drawn wider in the final and will only need to start well.

The Michael Hickmott trained Moving Target (2) ran second last week from box six behind Irinka Max and again he will be a big danger to the favourite.

Finito Show (7) for Clarence Wilcox won her heat from box eight last week in 22.15 and has each way claims in the final.

Twenty Dollars (8) for Glen Olsen drew this box last week when she ran second behind Finito Show and she can begin on her night to loom as an outside chance.

The Australia Day Trophy Final over 498m will be race seven on the program.

Rumble Master (1) for Brad Belford ran third on Thursday night at Albion Park over the 520m and will be ready.

He has drawn alongside the rails and should be up there with the leaders.

Good Odds Nutty (7) for

Michael Hickmott won from box four last week in 28.86 seconds. He has drawn wider tonight and will need to jump well.

Gascoigne (8) for Hovi had raced in NSW and Tasmania before coming to Townsville. This fellow has won over 520m Dapto and Nowra, so distance will not worry him. He has a big mid-race acceleration and a great finish.

Kennelling for tonight’s meeting closes at 6.10pm with the first race to jump at 6.55pm.
