Why can’t our governments get it right. A fairer system would be to work off licensing numbers for restaurants, cafes and bars. For example, if you were licensed for 30 people you should be allowed to open for 15 people. If you where a big show like the Cowboys and licensed for say 500 then 250 patrons would be sufficient. Big business can’t open for 20 people.

Come on Aaron Harper, actually show the people of Townsville you have a backbone and demand the VAD laws pass parliament, a much better legacy to be known for than getting the discount price of fuel removed from servo signs.
SMITHY 4818
After seeing the news coverage of the young car thieves in Brisbane the other night going up the road the wrong way, filming themselves, endangering other road users, then crashing, then getting caught, then getting bail! All on the same day, well it just shows that the lunacy of Queensland laws are enforced evenly across the state. How can any sane politician watch that footage and justify getting bail no matter how bloody old the grubs are! It makes no difference if you are killed by a 12-year-old or a 20-year-old, you are still dead! Get that through your heads government.

Help me understand why public toilets are closed. Went into Cotters Market, toilets not open in places like Cowboys. Mate who drives a truck between Brisbane and Townsville weekly and has to back up to a warm tyre, seems a bit silly that while encouraging hygienic living we are closing hygienic essentials and forcing unhygienic living.
POIDA, KIRWAN.
The State Government must be determined to lose every regional seat with their COVID19 regulations. Brisbane residents can visit Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Nambour, Maleny, Noosa while we can visit Ayr, Ingham and Charters Towers. They can potentially come in contact with over three million people while we would come in contact with around 200,000.
JAMES CRANBROOK
Premier Jeanette Young and Deputy Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk you both should be bloody ashamed of the way you both are running the State of Queensland.
TREVOR. PIMLICO
The Palaszcuk Government has never hesitated in treating North Queensland differently to her beloved SE Corner. Now, when it would financially prudent to unlock the North to regional tourism, the Government and its Chief Health Officer stubbornly assert we must all be treated the same. It’s over 40 days since we had a new case, while they are getting several per week. Most of the North will be bankrupt by the time the south is clear.
JEFF, CONDON
Driving name change, Bruce Highway is what it is, there are a lot more important things to get everyone and economy up and running, borrowing billions to give away, so yeah what a name change.
CRIS WULGURU
Neil Francey – a (second) “Captain Cook Highway” would increase neither funding nor tourism. Naming individual sections for the local First Nations might serve a tourism, education or reconciliation purpose, but not erasing the contribution of main-roadbuilding Harry Bruce, 35-year North Queensland representative for Kennedy, The Tableland and Leichhardt.

Notice the political right want to get back to work but the political left want the lockdowns to continue so they can stay home? It has ever been thus.
WOZ, HERMIT PARK
Maybe we should start referring to Dr Jeanette Young as Premier Young, as she seems to be making the major decisions about how to run Queensland, and Annap is only there for photo opportunities.
AGS HERMIT PK
Who is really running Queensland? It’s not the Premier, she is just a mouthpiece. She was the mouthpiece for Trad, she is now the mouthpiece for Dr Young. All she can do is appear on TV with Hollywood directors. Time for change. CHRISN ROWES BAY.
Woz Hermit Park. Dr Young is a state employee. In times of declared crisis some public servants are given additional powers under their normal job to manage the crisis. The same happens with the Police Commissioner when we have a disaster like a cyclone. GJ HYDE PARK
Woz Hermit Park, funny how the countries that actually listened to their “over educated idiots,” as you called them, are the ones with the lowest death toll, while the ones where the politicians have stuck their noses in are the ones currently resembling slaughterhouses. I know who the idiots are, and it’s not the doctors and scientists. JASE AVALE
Woz Hermit Park, yeah, God forbid we should actually put a doctor in charge of a public health matter. Ask the US and Brazil how putting “elected reps” in charge of the pandemic has worked out for them.
THE CREDIBLE HULK MT LOUISA
Anna Palaszczuk must have a ulterior motive, what is she up to? With some of her decision making recently you would think that she is writing a suicide note leading up to the election. Or now that Trad is out of the picture, is she blindly following orders from Jeanette Young? REB KELSO
Open the borders Premier. Looks like Harper not a big fan to open them. What the
Premier says the muppet nods and agrees. COOP 4814
Can’t believe this. The Townsville City Council tells us that they are conducting a controlled burn today on Castle Hill. The road and walking tracks will be closed. After a week of rain and a now green soggy hill, just what is going to burn? Hopeless council!
BARNEY BELGIAN GARDENS
Joe Blake doesn’t understand Queensland and Australian politics. Besides having a right to free speech, Pauline is an elected senator for Queensland and a party leader and has a duty to call out our Premier’s arrogantly stupid decisions!
GEO CONDON
“Closed“says the sign at Charles St/bamford Lane basketball park. I ran out of numbers trying to count how many were playing there and practising their “social distancing” skills. It’s been the same for weeks. Rules are for some but not for others.
TONY
Went out on the weekend for some essential supplies and was shocked by the lack of social distancing going on anywhere I went past. Shops, markets and similar all had people cheek by jowl crammed in and parks were crammed. Drove past a number of schools in the past two days and despite assurances of precautions in place, the kids are crammed together as well. What a recipe for disaster.
MAX, CRANBROOK
Pedro C/brook. The smoke and mirrors extend well beyond Virgin Auustralia, and our region will continue to suffer the same restrictions as the populace SE due to the coming election. I concur it takes the debate away from crime also their ball & chain Trad, but the Premier is trying to create a motherly image and this is desperation with a capital D. Us North Queenslanders know her too well.
WW. C/JONG.
Wondering if it’s a case of sour grapes. The Premier realises in October she’s going down so going to pull the rest of the State with her.
DT 4810
Some people are bloody unbelievable, what the hell does some of these people expect Deb Freckleton to do to Anna Palaszczuk? Pull her hair out and punch her in the mouth? She is the Leader of the Opposition and all she can do is oppose and point out what she thinks is bad policy from Labor and how the LNP would improve it.
RON KELSO.
Ask yourself why does Aaron Harper and the other two “yes Premier” just blindly agree with every dictate of Brisbane-based Puddleduck. Whatever Puddle says, on crime or same covid restrictions across this huge state, the Mice just say “yes Premier.” It’s so predictably pathetic.
PEDRO CRANBROOK
How is it so many staff in takeaway food shops seem to think chucking on a pair of plastic gloves excuses them from all other food handling hygiene rules? Since COVID-19 became a thing, I’ve seen numerous cafe staff wearing gloves handle cash money then without changing their gloves proceed to handle food oblivious how likely there’s bacterial or viral matter on the cash that they are now transferring onto the food. It’s disgusting behaviour.

ABC News Sunday night. Jane Norman made a statement that people are asking whether the $60 million under-estimation of the Jobkeeper payment will be banked or spent. I call that irresponsible journalism. Anyone with half a brain knows that the Jobkeeper payments were just being added to government debt i.e. it is all borrowed money. The current situation is that debt won’t be going up by as much as initially stated. There is no pot of money sitting there waiting for a new home.

I think most Australians these days would agree that Aboriginal people were hard done by. What isn’t so clear, is how do we right the wrong. We need a clear voice from Aboriginal Australia as to what should be done to finish this divide. JOE BLAKE
