The Ville hunts for new staff
JOBS are on offer at one of Townsville’s biggest hospitality employers as they look to bounce back from COVID-19.
The Ville Resort and Casino is on the hunt for electronic gaming attendants, bartenders and baristas as three months of coronavirus closures draw closer to an end.
With 20 positions on offer across the business, roles will commence this month and are touted as the perfect opportunity to re-enter the industry.
General manager for hotel and food and beverage Brent Clark said roles were available for those with or without experience.
“We’re mainly looking for people with experience working in either electronic gaming or in restaurants, cafes,” he said.
“We want people who can deliver exceptional customer service with energy, enthusiasm and efficiency.
“We’d also be open to taking on people who may be less experienced in the industry but have the right sense of passion and determination.”
In March more than 400 workers were temporarily stood down from The Ville, however many of those have now returned through partial reopenings.
The casino and the hotel’s food and beverage outlets were forced into closure following the coronavirus outbreak.
The hotel was also closed due to a lack of guests and business.
Staff were able bars to and access annual and long service leave entitlements or seek support through Centrelink while waiting for life to return to normal.
Mr Clark said new positions had been created after some staff members chose not to return to work.
He cited various reasons such as new employment, relocation from Townsville or changes in circumstances.
“Anyone who was stood down and was eligible is still being paid under the Jobkeeper program and will be stood back up as soon as restrictions ease,” he said.
“It’s been exciting to see the teams form – hotel, food and beverage, housekeeping, surveillance and security, maintenance and corporate services – coming back on deck over the past few weeks.”
